How to remove yourself from First Advantage

Site
fadv.com
Category
risk
Difficulty
Medium — there is nothing to remove, only a free report copy, a dispute and a freeze; the form demands the name of the employer that ordered the check and carries a CAPTCHA, so a consumer who never had a First Advantage check has nothing to request
Time to process"Reinvestigations are generally completed within 30 days of receipt" (fadv.com/candidates/, disputes); no figure published for sending a file copy

What they publish

Employer-ordered consumer reports, not a public profile. Its FAQ says it collects data "to help perform background checks, drug testing, and other services at the request of our customers" from "government agencies, law enforcement bodies, publicly available records, public registries, court or tribunal records, insolvency registers, educational institutions, current and/or previous employers... and from public sources, such as social media". Dispute categories offered: Criminal History Record, Social Security Number Verification, Motor Vehicle Record, Education Verification, Employment Verification. It states "First Advantage does not maintain a 'consumer file' on individuals"

Owner / network: First Advantage (employment background screening); U.S. consumer contact is "First Advantage Consumer Center, P.O. Box 105292, Atlanta, GA 30348-5292", with offices at 1 Concourse Parkway NE, Suite 200, Atlanta, GA 30328 and 11800 Exit Five Parkway, Suite 120, Fishers, IN 46037

Removing yourself, step by step

0 of 5 done
  1. Go to https://fadv.com/candidates/ and open "How can I get a copy of my report (as a U.S. candidate)?" — you are "entitled to one free copy of your First Advantage report within 12 months" or within 60 days of an adverse action
  2. Select "Complete Form", fill in name, date of birth, email, phone and the organisation that requested the check, attach supporting documentation, and submit; or call 800-845-6004 or email consumer.documents@fadv.com
  3. To dispute an item, use https://fadv.com/privacy-center/us-residents/dispute-report/ (same identity fields plus the disputed category and details), or call 800-845-6004 / email consumer.documents@fadv.com
  4. To freeze your First Advantage consumer files, "complete this form, call 800-845-6004, or email us at consumer.documents@fadv.com"
  5. For non-FCRA services only (drug testing, I-9, tax credits), state-privacy requests go to USDataPrivacy@FADV.com, 1-800-845-6004, or First Advantage Consumer Center, P.O. Box 105292, Atlanta, GA 30348-5292

How they confirm it

the candidate form requires first name, last name, date of birth, email, phone and "Organization That Requested Your Background Check"; state-privacy-law requests require "at a minimum first name, last name, social security number, and address" and mailed requests need "copies of two forms of identification"

If they ignore you

CFPB complaint (consumerfinance.gov/complaint); FCRA §611 dispute rights (reinvestigation within 30 days, statute); Georgia Attorney General (Atlanta consumer center and office)

Data brokers re-list. Check again in about 60 days.

Re-listing risk for this site: High — this is a consumer reporting agency, not a listing; every new employer-ordered screen generates a fresh report from court and employer records, and a dispute only corrects inaccurate items
