Difficulty
Easy — self-service portal for freeze, prescreen status and report, with mail/fax fallback forms and a phone line, all on one support hub
Time to processnot published ; none of the freeze, opt-out or report pages gives a figure. The CFPB entry states the FCRA rule that annual disclosures "must do so within fifteen days of receiving your request." Dispute reinvestigation is 30 days under FCRA §611, cited as statutory

What they publish

In their words, "Experian's Clarity Services specializes in alternative financial services data and solutions. Clarity's suite of FCRA-regulated reports and scores give lenders visibility into critical subprime consumer information, including the thin-file and no-file consumer segments." The CFPB entry details the data: "payday loans, installment loans, auto loans (and leasing), check cashing services, rent-to-own transactions, telecommunication account openings, and financial services with an emphasis on the lower-income and subprime consumer market segments." Buyers are lenders: "If Clarity Services appears on your credit report, it is because we received a credit inquiry for you and provided a Clarity credit report." This is a consumer report: there is no opt-out from the file itself. The rights are a free annual disclosure ("Clarity report"), a free score, a security freeze, dispute, and a prescreen opt-out

Owner / network: "Clarity Services, Inc., a part of Experian" (site footer and every consumer page); CFPB entry: "Clarity Services is owned by Experian."

Removing yourself, step by step

0 of 4 done
  1. Request the free Clarity report (file disclosure) at https://www.clarityservices.com/support/file-disclosure/ via the "Request My Clarity Report" button (https://consumers.clarityservices.com/reports), or "download and complete the form below ... please send it to our mailing address": Clarity Services, Inc., a part of Experian, Consumer Support Division, PO Box 16, Allen, TX 75013. Phone (866) 390-3118, "Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm EST" (CFPB entry: "Option 4 for report request").
  2. Place a security freeze at https://consumers.clarityservices.com/securityFreeze from https://www.clarityservices.com/support/security-freeze/, or mail/fax the "Security Freeze Request" PDF. Phone: (866) 390-3118 (CFPB entry: "Option 1 for security freeze"). Keep the confirmation; this is separate from any Experian freeze.
  3. Opt out of prescreened offers at https://consumers.clarityservices.com/prescreenOffer from https://www.clarityservices.com/support/opt-out-2/, choosing "5-years or ... permanently", or mail/fax the "Prescreen Opt-Out Request Form".
  4. Dispute any inaccurate item by phone or mail to the Allen, TX address — no dispute web page exists (/support/dispute/ is 404); the CFPB entry states "Under the FCRA, companies must conduct – free of charge – a reasonable investigation of your dispute." Removal of accurate items is not available.

How they confirm it

The portal form fields are behind JavaScript and were not read. The privacy policy states what identifies a consumer: "Information such as your Social Security Number, date of birth, and driver's license number(s) are used to uniquely identify you when required." The mail route uses the PDF forms "Security Freeze Request" (https://www.clarityservices.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Security-Freeze-Request-2.3-5.22.pdf), "Temporarily Lift or Permanently Remove a Security Freeze Form" (https://www.clarityservices.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Temporarily-Lift-or-Permanently-Remove-a-Security-Freeze-Form-2.2-5.22.pdf), "Prescreen Opt-Out Request Form" (https://www.clarityservices.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Prescreen-Opt-Out-Request-Form-2.5-5.22.pdf) and "Clarity Report Request" (linked from the file-disclosure page); the PDFs' field lists were not opened

If they ignore you

CFPB complaint (consumerfinance.gov/complaint); state AG; FCRA §611 dispute rights; private right of action under FCRA §§616–617

Data brokers re-list. Check again in about 60 days.

Re-listing risk for this site: High — a CRA keeps receiving data from subprime lenders; a freeze restricts access, it does not stop furnishers reporting into the file, and the 5-year prescreen opt-out expires unless made permanent. "Clarity does not make approval or denial decisions for any type of credit."
