How to remove yourself from CBCInnovis / Factual Data

Site
factualdata.com
Category
risk
Difficulty
Hard — no suppression primitive; a report exists only if a lender pulled one. Getting a copy is Medium (mail/fax/phone with a PDF form; no online submission)
Time to processnot published ; FCRA §611 sets a 30-day reinvestigation window (statute, not their page)

What they publish

"Factual Data provides credit information from Consumer Reporting Agencies (CRAs) to its clients, which are primarily banks, mortgage companies and other lending institutions that have a permissible purpose under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) to obtain credit information for lending purposes. Factual Data does not maintain a database of consumer information from which new credit reports are generated." Products: merged (tri-merge) credit reports, pre-qualification, pre-approval, undisclosed debt monitoring. "Factual Data does not sell your information to any third party for marketing purposes."

Owner / network: Factual Data® ("Founded in 1948 as the Credit Bureau of Columbus"; "office locations in Columbus, OH and Pittsburgh, PA"). cbcinnovis.com and www.cbcinnovis.com both serve the Factual Data homepage (final URL https://www.factualdata.com/), so factualdata.com is the operating domain. Site sells "Innovis® Early View" and "Innovis Credit Data"; corporate relationship to CBC Companies / Innovis not stated on any page fetched

Removing yourself, step by step

0 of 6 done
  1. Freeze your files at TransUnion, Experian and Equifax (addresses and phones are listed on the Consumer Assistance page) — Factual Data assembles its reports from them and holds no database of its own.
  2. Opt out of prescreened offers: "Call toll-free 1-888-5-OPTOUT (1-888-567-8688)" or "Visit www.optoutprescreen.com" — the page notes "trigger leads are a type of prescreened consumer report under the FCRA".
  3. If "Factual Data" shows as an inquiry on your credit report, contact Consumer Assistance to learn which client pulled it; to dispute the inquiry, use the inquiry-dispute form and "include the name of the client".
  4. To get the report a lender pulled: download the "Request a Copy of Your Factual Data Credit Report" form from the Consumer Assistance page and send it by mail to Factual Data, Attn: Consumer Assistance, PO Box 530090, Atlanta, GA 30353, or call (877) 237-8317.
  5. To dispute contents, send the dispute form "via fax, mail or phone"; dispute the same item with the source bureau in parallel, since the data originates there.
  6. Trafficking victims: mail or fax the block form to PO Box 530245, Atlanta, GA 30353 / fax 866-516-3502 with the four required items.

Tap a step to tick it off. Progress is saved in this browser only.

How they confirm it

for a copy or dispute, "If a Factual Data client requested a copy of your credit report through our system" — i.e. you must have been the subject of a client pull; the forms' identity fields are not visible (PDFs not fetched) . Trafficking block: "(i) proof of your identity, (ii) victim determination documentation, (iii) a listing of the items on your report that were adversely affected by human trafficking, and (iv) your preferred method of contact"

If they ignore you
