What they publish
Business contact profiles. The data-subjects privacy page lists "Name, Company, Office Address, Telephone Number, Email Address, Job Title, Job Function and Responsibilities, Education, Social Media URL", collected from "publicly available sources such as websites and government records" and from "our Customers, their users and third party providers"
Removing yourself, step by step
0 of 4 done- Go to https://contactout.com/optout (the footer "Do Not Sell My Info" link goes to the same page)
- Enter the email address your profile is listed under, pass the Turnstile check, and select "Send verification link"
- Open the verification link from your inbox to complete the request
- If your profile is under a different email, or you get no link, email support@contactout.com — the only address the policy publishes (privacy@contactout.com appears in older registry data but not on any fetched page)
Tap a step to tick it off. Progress is saved in this browser only.
How they confirm it
email — the opt-out page is headed "Verify your email" with a single "Enter your email" field and a "Send verification link" button; the policy asks you to "Provide sufficient information to allow us to reasonably verify you are the person about whom we collected"
If they ignore you
CCPA complaint to the California Privacy Protection Agency (CA registrant); California Attorney General (company is in San Francisco, CA)
Re-listing risk for this site: Medium — neither the policy nor the opt-out page mentions a suppression list, so re-collection from "publicly available sources" is not ruled out
Common questions
How do I remove myself from ContactOut?
Use ContactOut's opt-out page (contactout.com/optout). Or email their privacy address, albert@contactout.io. The guide above lists 4 steps, and this page writes the removal request for you to send from your own email.
How long does ContactOut take to remove my information?
24 hours — the opt-out page says "delete your profile within the next 24 hours"; the data-subjects policy separately says "If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you". That is what our research recorded; the site may take longer.
Will my information come back on ContactOut?
Medium — neither the policy nor the opt-out page mentions a suppression list, so re-collection from "publicly available sources" is not ruled out. Check again in about 60 days.
