Removing yourself, step by step

  1. 01

Create/log in to a free FamilySearch account.

  2. 02

Search Family Tree and Records for your name.

  3. 03

For your own living-person profile, confirm privacy settings restrict visibility.

  4. 04

For historical records naming you as a living person, open a Help Center case requesting redaction, citing the living-person removal policy article above.

  5. 05

For entries added by other users, request restriction via support (you cannot delete another user's contribution directly).

  6. 06

Follow up on the support case until confirmed.

Data brokers re-list. Check again in 30–60 days.

Re-listing risk for this site: Medium — other users can re-add you to their trees; new record collections can resurface entries
