Removing yourself, step by step

0 of 6 done
  1. Open https://staterecords.org/optout (footer "Your Privacy Choices") and follow "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" to https://staterecords.org/do-not-sell-share-my-personal-information.
  2. Email privacy@staterecords.org with your first name, last name, state and city, as the page requires; name every record you want removed, since "each record must be submitted separately", and ask for a confirmation.
  3. Covered persons under the Daniel Anderl Judicial Security and Privacy Act (judges, prosecutors, law enforcement and same-household family) use subject line "Attention Covered Person Removal Request" with "complete name, residence, and email address, as well as your status as a Covered Person".
  4. For an expunged or sealed record that still appears, email the same address with subject "Attention Expungement Records".
  5. If no confirmation arrives within 15 days, contact privacy@staterecords.org again; the policy response window is 45 days. Re-search your name on the site afterwards, including state-level pages.
  6. If denied, appeal to privacy@staterecords.org ("Appeals may be submitted to privacy@staterecords.org").

How they confirm it

"Upon submission, we will process your request and confirm removal of the selected records. If you chose to receive a confirmation and have not received it within 15 days, please contact us at privacy@staterecords.org." Identity checks possible: "we may need to ask you additional questions to confirm the information associated with you" (/optout); an authorized agent needs "written permission" and the consumer may have "to verify your own identity directly with us" (Privacy §15).

If they ignore you

Appeal to privacy@staterecords.org; the Privacy Policy states "If we deny your appeal, you may contact the Attorney General or another authority which we will help you identify". Written demand to InfoPay, Inc., 163 Highland Ave #1118, Needham, MA 02494 or (855) 938-5042. Massachusetts AG (operator address is Needham, MA). CCPA complaint to the CPPA if InfoPay is a California data-broker registrant . The site states it "is not a consumer reporting organization" under the FCRA, so no FCRA regulator route.

Data brokers re-list. Check again in about 60 days.

Re-listing risk for this site: High — "Submitting this form will result in the removal of only the specific records you select... each record must be submitted separately", and the site "aggregate[s] information from publicly available sources", so new or duplicate records are not covered by a prior request.
